KPMG SUPPORTS DISADVANTAGED GIRLS

A senior partner of KPMG Ghana Mr.Anthony Sarpong has said, society cannot ignore the humanitarian imperative of supporting others.

He made this statement during a ceremony to extend the company's support for an outreach programs initiated by the Pamela Bridgewater Project at Mamobi, a suburb in Accra.


The event saw the girls schooled on how to prevent the growing trend of teenage pregnancy which is a challenge of the Kayayei phenomenon including the education on the avoidance unprotected sex and sexually transmitted diseases like HIV etc.

The Kayayei underwent physical training to enhance their fitness under the instructions of Coach Fred Lobos . According to the Project Director for the Bridgewater Project, Yahaya Alhassan, the regular exercise is aimed at making the girls physically and psychologically strong to be able to withstand unscrupulous men who may want to take advantage of them at night.

Food and drinks, as well as nose mask,sanitizers and liquid soaps were distributed to the girls as part of the activities to prevent covid-19.

The Bridgewater Project provides future and welfare to disadvantaged girls popularly known as Kayayei through education and training, protection, advocacy, research etc
