The Kunata Voluntary Organisation is to partner with Breast Care International to provide monthly breast care for market women and disadvantaged girls at the Kumasi Kejetia Kayayei Centre.
The programme, scheduled for the first week of every month beginning from August 2021, would see the medical team of Peace and Love Hospital providing diagnosis, treatment, counselling, education and rehabilitation for market traders and kayayei within the Kumasi metropolis .
The founder of the organisation which operates The Pamela Bridgewater Project in Ghana, Mr Yahaya Alhassan, who announced this during an interaction with the media in Accra, praised the President and Founder of Breast Care International, Dr Beatrice Wiafe Addai, for her continuous public fight against breast cancer.

He re-echoed Dr Wiafe’s concern about the current silence of civil society and policy makers on the rampaging effects of breast cancer on the poor and vulnerable in society.
Mr Alhassan called on the government and stakeholders to support the activities of Breast Care International, saying, “the Breast Care surgeon should not be left alone to fight breast cancer in the country”.
He stressed that statistics on breast cancer death was a scary development which must be collectively prevented to protect the Ghanaian woman.
Mr Alhassan announced that July 20, 2021 would be used to sensitise the market women and kayayee on COVID-19 and also distribute sanitisers, gloves and masks to them.
He also announced that the organisation was offering its space to all non-governmental organisations for programmes for the disadvantaged, particularly for women and children, including the use of the center for public addresses to share beneficial information towards advocacy initiatives
