President John Mahama’s Key Achievements and Initiatives for Women
First female Vice President: Under President Mahama’s administration, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang became Ghana’s first female Vice President, a historic milestone for women’s political leadership.
Women’s Development Bank: The government announced the establishment of a Women’s Development Bank to support women’s entrepreneurship, e-commerce and sustainable livelihoods.
Women’s economic empowerment: The administration has placed women’s economic participation and access to opportunities at the centre of its gender agenda, including initiatives aimed at expanding livelihoods and private-sector participation.
Gender equality and women’s leadership: The government has renewed its commitment to increasing women's participation in leadership and decision-making and has promoted gender equality as part of the Reset Agenda.
