New Ghana Social Justice Forum Summons GFA Over Withholding of World Cup Tickets
Accra, Ghana — The New Ghana Social Justice Forum (NGSJF) has formally summoned the Ghana Football Association (GFA) over concerns that World Cup tickets allocated to Ghana have not been made publicly accessible to ordinary citizens. The Forum argues that the current situation undermines transparency and creates opportunities for exploitation.
With the FIFA World Cup approximately 90 days away, many Ghanaian football supporters remain uncertain about how and where to purchase official tickets. According to the Forum, attempts by members of the public to obtain ticket information through the GFA’s official website and other channels have proven difficult and unclear.
The New Ghana Social Justice Forum maintains that World Cup tickets should be made readily available to the general public so that interested supporters can independently secure tickets and proceed with their visa applications without relying on middlemen or so-called “visa connection” agents. The Forum notes that the lack of clarity surrounding ticket access risks creating an environment that encourages monopoly, corruption, and unfair practices that disadvantage genuine applicants.

As part of its ongoing advocacy for fairness, accountability, and transparency, the Forum has taken formal steps by initiating legal action and issuing a court summons to the Ghana Football Association to address the matter.
“We believe that the opportunity to support the national team on the world stage should not be limited to a select few. Access to World Cup tickets must be transparent and fair to all Ghanaian citizens,” a spokesperson for the Forum stated.
The Forum further emphasizes that transparent ticket distribution would empower individuals to independently apply for visas and travel arrangements, thereby reducing the risk of exploitation by unauthorized agents and intermediaries.
The New Ghana Social Justice Forum is calling on relevant authorities and stakeholders to ensure that processes surrounding ticket allocation and distribution align with principles of fairness, transparency, and integrity. The Forum believes that such measures will also reflect the global spirit of fair play promoted by FIFA and uphold equal opportunity for all Ghanaian supporters who wish to attend the tournament.
The organization has expressed confidence that the matter will receive due consideration and hopes the proceedings will lead to clearer, more transparent systems that benefit the Ghanaian public. The organization, also advised Ghanaian supporters who intend to travel for the World Cup to strictly respect the conditions of their visas and avoid overstaying.
The New Ghana Social Justice Forum is a civic advocacy group committed to promoting transparency, fairness, accountability, and social justice in public institutions and national governance.
