Accra, Ghana – The National Chairman of the Coalition of National Zongo Political Groupings and Founder of The Humanity Magazine, Mr. Yahaya Alhassan, has commended the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, for his historic visit to Christ the King Catholic Church, describing the gesture as a powerful symbol of religious harmony, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence in Ghana.
According to Mr. Alhassan, the Chief Imam's visit demonstrated that faith should unite people rather than divide them. He noted that Ghana's long-standing reputation as one of Africa's most peaceful and religiously tolerant nations has been strengthened by such acts of mutual respect between leaders of different faiths.
Mr. Alhassan recalled that The Humanity Magazine had previously recognized and honoured the National Chief Imam with a Humanity Award in appreciation of his unwavering commitment to promoting interfaith dialogue, national unity, and peaceful coexistence. He said the award was presented in recognition of the Chief Imam's inspiring visit to the church, which sent a strong message that Muslims and Christians can live together in peace while respecting each other's beliefs.
"The Chief Imam has once again demonstrated that leadership is about building bridges, not walls. His visit to Christ the King Church was not only symbolic but also a practical lesson in tolerance, respect, and national unity. Ghana must continue to celebrate leaders who promote peace instead of division," Mr. Alhassan stated.
He further urged religious leaders, politicians, civil society organizations, and community groups to emulate the Chief Imam's example by encouraging dialogue and mutual understanding among people of different religious and ethnic backgrounds.
Mr. Alhassan emphasized that Ghana's diversity remains one of its greatest strengths and called on all citizens to reject religious extremism, hatred, and intolerance. He said sustainable national development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace, unity, and respect for one another.
He concluded by reaffirming The Humanity Magazine's commitment to recognizing individuals and institutions whose actions promote humanity, peace, justice, and national cohesion, expressing confidence that the National Chief Imam's exemplary leadership will continue to inspire future generations.
